Hello!
My name is Sebastian Fernández and I am a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Stanford University. I work in the Congreve Lab where I am advised by Professor Daniel Congreve. My doctoral research involves developing next-generation perovskite LEDs for lighting, display, human health, and 3D printing applications. More generally, I am interested in engineering new optoelectronic devices based on emerging classes of semiconducting nanomaterials.
I am funded by the Stanford Diversifying Academia, Recruiting Excellence (DARE) Fellowship, U.S. Department of Energy IBUILD Graduate Research Fellowship, P. Michael Farmwald Stanford Graduate Fellowship in Science and Engineering, and GEM Fellowship.
Previously, I earned my M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University in 2021 and my B.S. in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Mathematics in 2019 from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
Outside of engineering, I am a classically trained violinist and parent to my dog, Ollie!
I will be on the 2024-2025 academic job market for tenure-track faculty positions in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, and Chemical Engineering.
