Hello!
My name is Sebastian Fernández and I am a recent Ph.D. graduate from the Department of Electrical Engineering at Stanford University. I worked in the Congreve Lab where I was advised by Professor Daniel Congreve. My doctoral research involved developing alternative emissive metal halide perovskite materials and devices for next-generation lighting, display, public health, and 3D printing applications. More generally, I am interested in engineering new optoelectronic devices based on emerging classes of semiconducting nanomaterials.
I was funded by the Stanford Diversifying Academia, Recruiting Excellence (DARE) Fellowship, U.S. Department of Energy IBUILD Graduate Research Fellowship, P. Michael Farmwald Stanford Graduate Fellowship in Science and Engineering, and GEM Fellowship.
Previously, I earned my M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University in 2021 and my B.S. in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Mathematics in 2019 from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
Outside of engineering, I am a classically trained violinist and parent to my dog, Ollie!
